Kate and Julz got married at Plume in Matakana, with their first look tucked away in what's become my own secret forest spot, a favourite of mine for exactly these kinds of quiet, private moments. Julz's mum officiated the wedding, and it turned out to be one of the most lovely, meaningful parts of their day for both of them.

Julz works as a wildlife photographer, so naturally I brought my absolute best to this one. Down on the beach, portraits were framed under one huge, sprawling pohutukawa tree, and the whole bridal party ended up drinking bubbles straight from the bottle, one of those perfectly candid, unplanned moments that made for some of my favourite shots of the day.
