Erika and Fergus had big plans for a sun-soaked, festival wedding on Fergus's family farm in Whangateau, with views out over Omaha and the Whangateau harbour. After a couple of Covid postponements, the day finally rolled around in November 2022, and Mother Nature decided to have her say.

Guests were being shuttled up the hill just as the storm hit, thunder and rain rolling in out of nowhere, so everyone wrapped up in plastic ponchos and rode it out while Erika and Fergus said their vows anyway, rain streaming down around them. Once the ceremony wrapped and everyone started mingling, their wee daughter grabbed her dad's hands for a sweet little dance in the puddles, giggling the whole way through. The party carried on regardless, family manning the BBQ and a food truck dishing out burgers, and once the rain finally eased, I snuck Erika and Fergus back up the hill to find their family horses for a set of sunset portraits together.
