Whangateau Wedding | Ericka & Fergus

Family farm, Whangateau, Leigh

Erika and Fergus live on a historic farm right in the heart of Whangateau, and from the moment I met them, I knew their wedding was all about celebrating family and throwing a party that would resonate with the land for years to come. Our first meeting was a walk through their stunning property, taking in panoramic views of Omaha and the pathways leading to their reception spot. They envisioned a festival-style wedding, with Erika meticulously crafting every detail—from guiding guests up the hills to the clifftop ceremony to setting up an off-site camping area for everyone. However, Mother Nature had other plans, and what was expected to be a sunny weekend turned into a heart-stopping downpour. What truly amazed me was how Erika and Fergus embraced the rain with grace, as did their guests. Everyone welcomed the misty clouds and pouring rain with laughter wrapped up in plastic raincoats and under umbrellas, even the thunderclaps were met with joy and gratitude. It felt as if the universe itself was celebrating their love with its own drama !

When your wedding day is drenched in rain, you end up with unforgettable stories to tell. Erika and Fergus experienced it all: a dramatic stormy sunset, playful moments chasing horses with their beautiful daughter, and even standing outside for their speeches. This wedding is a favourite of mine because it embodies the true essence of celebration—not about crafting a flawless day, but about creating a day that’s perfectly yours
